Abstract
У статті проаналізовано питання філософського та теологічного контекстів у розумінні та аналізі явища самогубства протягом світової історії з акцентом на західну цивілізацію. Обґрунтовано позицію, що філософський та теологічний підходи щодо розуміння самогубства краще розглядати в комплексі. Здійснено огляд джерел, що описували дискурс щодо самогубства у Древній Греції та Древньому Римі. Описано зміни у ставленні до самогубства у періоди домінації різних філософських шкіл, зокрема, під час поширення стоїцизму. Окремо виділено м’якість позиції щодо самогубства у ранньому християнстві та причини такої позиції. Описано процес зміни ставлення до самогубства у християнстві з нейтрального до негативного та проведено аналіз згадок самогубств у Біблії. Проаналізовано процес зміни ставлення та дискурсу щодо самогубства під час епох Відродження та Просвітництва у Європі та проведено контраст з позицією християнської церкви. Описано поступове збільшення інтересу до явища самогубства у Європі та активізація обговорення даного питання. Зазначено головні тези суспільного дискурсу щодо самогубства у ті часи та передумови до декриміналізації явища самогубства у Європі. Обґрунтовано позицію щодо багатосторонності та складності розуміння самогубства у філософському контексті. The article analyses the issue of philosophical and theological contexts in understanding and analysing the phenomenon of suicide throughout world history with the accent on Western civilisation. The position that philosophical and theological approaches to the understanding of suicide are better considered in a complex is substantiated. A review of the sources that described the discourse on suicide in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome was carried out, and changes in the attitude to suicide during the periods of dominance of different philosophical schools were described. The softness of the position regarding suicide in early Christianity is highlighted separately. The process of changing the attitude towards suicide in Christianity from neutral to negative is described. The process of changing the social discourse regarding suicide during the Renaissance and Enlightenment eras in Europe is analysed and the contrast with the position of the Christian Church is highlighted. The main theses of the public discourse on suicide in those times and the prerequisites for the decriminalization of the suicide phenomenon in Europe are described. The position regarding the multifacetedness and complexity of understanding suicide in a philosophical context is substantiated.
