The automotive industry is an integral and strategically important part of the national economy. Today, in Ukraine, the mechanism of state regulation of development of the automotive industry includes a wide range of legal, administrative, economic and social-psychological methods that potentially have significant effectiveness in stimulating the development of the automotive industry. In practice, domestic automakers are actually left alone by the government with their problems. In view of the fact that the application of the harmonization approach can distort the competitive environment in the automobile market in view of the strengthening of the state protectionism of the domestic automakers, it is recommended that the mandatory limitation in time and systematically control the implementation of state strategies for the development of the automotive industry.
