Recent studies and publications on the use of personal protective equipment have been analyzed, the need has been identified and existing knowledge has been systematized. Insufficiently resolved issues in the protective equipment of a police officer while ensuring public order were singled out. Modern personal protective equipment for a police officer, designed to directly protect his life and health in the course of duty is studied in detail. Examples of classification of the level of protection of protective equipment in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and police of foreign countries are given. The distribution of personal protective equipment of a police officer is suggested. Examples, description and application features of modern materials used in personal protective equipment, such as steel, titanium, aluminum, ceramics, polyethylene polyethylene, nylon and aramid fibers (kevlar, queen, carbon, terlon and others), are given. Updated state classification of bulletproof vests in Ukraine, in accordance with the new DSTU 8782: 2018 PPE. Body armor. Classification. General specifications. Requirements for Individual Armor Protection, is carried out. The experience of using individual armor protection has been analyzed, the requirement for reduction of a traumatic (pre-obstructive) contusion trauma has been singled out and options for providing its severity have been proposed. Suggestions of approximate time of continuous wearing of personal protective equipment by police officers are provided. Modern personal protective equipment has been systematized and reviewed in detail, namely: individual head and torso protection, shock and anti-ball shields, individual limb protection, protective gloves and shoes, protective kits (shock and anti-ball), individual protective equipment. Recommendations have been formulated and a conclusion has been drawn regarding the correct choice and requirement of the wearing of personal protective equipment, which is by far the most important condition for high security of police officers in the course of their duty.
