Abstract
Незважаючи на порівняно невеликий термін функціонування Державної служби України з безпеки харчових продуктів та захисту споживачів, цей державний орган не є сучасним і не відповідає викликам сьогодення у сфері захисту прав споживачів в Україні, тим більше – відповідним принципам, підходам і практикам ЄС. Характер діяльності Держпродспоживслужби свідчить про переважну спрямованість до вирішення завдань аграрного сектору економіки. Через невиправдано широку розгалуженість напрямів діяльності служби страждають не лише споживачі та система державного захисту прав споживачів загалом, а й численні напрями функціональних зобов’язань, які є важливими складовими елементами для розвитку вітчизняної економіки, але не сприяють цьому розвитку. Despite the relatively short period of functioning of the State Service of Ukraine for the safety of food products and the protection of consumers, this state body is not contemporary and does not correspond to the current challenges in the field of consumer rights protection in Ukraine, furthermore it doesn’t comply with the relevant principles, approaches and practices of the EU. The nature of the of the State Consumer Protection Service activity shows the overwhelming focus on the tasks of the agrarian sector of the economy. Due to the unjustified branching of the service activities, not only consumers and the system of state protection of consumer rights are suffering in general, but also numerous lines of functional obligations under the Service Provisions, which are the important components of the development of the domestic economy but do not contribute to this development.
